Lipitor (atorvastatin) 

Indications

Lipitor is indicated for:

• Reducing the risk of myocardial infarction (MI), stroke, revascularization procedures, and angina in adults with multiple risk factors for coronary heart disease (CHD) but without clinically evident CHD.

Mechanism of Action

• Immune-Mediated Necrotizing Myopathy (IMNM): Rare cases reported; discontinue if suspected.
• Hepatic Dysfunction: Monitor liver enzymes before starting therapy and as needed. Discontinue if serious liver injury or symptoms such as jaundice occur.
