Description

Advair Diskus Classification

Advair Diskus is a combination of inhaled corticosteroids fluticasone and bronchodilators salmeterol to treat breathing problems. It is prescribed to help control asthma symptoms in patients who are not fully controlled on other medicines or have a severe condition requiring additional medication. Inhaled fluticasone and salmeterol are also prescribed in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease COPD patients.

How To Use Advair Diskus

Read the leaflet provided with the medicine before using it and ask a doctor or pharmacist if anything is unclear. Once opened, do not close the device without inhaling the powder, for you will lose a dose. Place the mouthpiece between your lips and teeth without biting it, inhale deeply through your mouth profoundly, and hold breath for up to 10 seconds as you remove the device in your mouth, allowing the drug to settle in the airways of the lungs. Slowly breath out, but not in the device, and repeat the process if prescribed more than one puff. Rinse your mouth with water to avoid getting a yeast infection after each use. Do not wash or take any part out of the device and keep it dry. Store the device at room temperature, away from direct heat and light.

Advair Diskus Dosage

The dose of Advair Diskus is different for each patient; factors such as medical condition, age, and other medicines being taken are considered by a doctor. This inhaler comes in strengths of 100/50 mcg, 250/50 mcg, and 500/50mcg, usually prescribed to be inhaled twice a day in 12 hours intervals, one in the morning and one in the evening. Listed here are the usual prescriptions; if given differently, do not change them unless your doctor tells you so.
