WHAT IS FLOVENT HFA USED FOR?
Flovent HFA (Fluticasone) is used to combat or prevent asthma symptoms, such as wheezing and shortness of breath. This medication reduces the inflammation in the airways of the lungs. Fluticasone is in the class of drugs, which are corticosteroids. This drug must not be taken to treat sudden asthma attacks as it does not work immediately. Therefore, it must be taken regularly to be effective. If you experience sudden asthma attacks, use a quick-relief inhaler, which can be albuterol or salbutamol as prescribed.
HOW TO TAKE FLOVENT HFA?
Read the patient information that comes with this medication and follow the rules as shown on the leaflet. Each time you refill, you just reread the instructions.
For priming the inhaler:
- Follow the instructions if you are only using it for the first time, if not used for more than one week, or if you dropped the inhaler.
- While priming the inhaler, spray away from your face to avoid getting into your eyes.
- Before using the inhaler, give it a 5-second shake.
- Inhale the Flovent HFA as instructed by your doctor, typically two times a day (in the mornings and evenings).
Dosages are determined by the person’s medical condition or response to the treatment.
Flovent HFA dosages will range from Flovent HFA 44 mcg/actuation, Flovent HFA 110 mcg/actuation, and Flovent HFA 220 mcg/actuation. Follow your doctor’s instructions and only take what your doctor prescribes.
