Indications: Timoptic Eyedrops (timolol) is indicated for treating high intraocular pressure in patients with:
Ingredients: Timoptic Eyedrops contain timolol maleate as the active ingredient. The inactive ingredients include:
- Monobasic and dibasic sodium phosphate
- Sodium hydroxide to adjust pH and
- Purified water.
Additionally, it contains a preservative benzalkonium chloride 0.01%.
Directions: Follow your doctor’s prescription exactly.
- If you use other topically applied ophthalmic medications, do not apply them at the same time as Timoptic. Administer them at least 10 minutes before or after using Timoptic.
- If your response is not sufficient, your doctor may increase the dosage to one drop of the 0.5% solution twice daily. It may take a few weeks for your eye pressure to stabilize. During this time, your doctor will monitor your response after about four weeks.
- You might then use just one drop once a day. Eye pressure can change at different times during the day. That’s why your doctor may check it more than once. This helps make sure one drop a day is working. Using more than one drop twice a day doesn’t help more. If your eye pressure is still too high, you may need another medicine. Doctors don’t usually give two beta-blocker eye drops at the same time.
Contraindications: Do not use Timoptic Eyedrops:
- If you have asthma or a history of asthma,
