ProAir Respiclick (albuterol sulfate)

Indications

  • Asthma: ProAir Respiclick is used to treat or prevent bronchospasm in patients with reversible obstructive airway disease, such as asthma.
  • Exercise-Induced Bronchospasm: It is also used to prevent exercise-induced bronchospasm (EIB) in individuals aged 4 years and older.

Dosage and Administration

  • Follow your doctor’s instructions on how to use the ProAir Respiclick inhaler correctly.
  • Inhale the medication by mouth as directed by your healthcare provider, usually every 4 to 6 hours as needed.
  • Prime the inhaler by actuating it twice away from your face before the first use, or if it has not been used for more than 2 weeks.
  • Clean the mouthpiece with a dry cloth or tissue at least once a week to ensure proper medication delivery.
  • Do not use the ProAir Respiclick more frequently than prescribed.
  • Avoid exposing the inhaler to extreme heat or cold, as it can affect the medication’s efficacy.
  • Do not use the inhaler if you do not hear a click when the cap is fully opened, indicating it is ready to use.
  • Do not stop using the inhaler suddenly without consulting your healthcare provider.

Mechanism of Action

ProAir Respiclick is a short-acting beta2-adrenergic agonist. It works by stimulating beta2 receptors in the bronchial smooth muscle, leading to relaxation of the muscles and opening of the airways. This helps to relieve bronchospasm and improve breathing.
