Lamictal (lamotrigine) 

Indications

Lamictal is indicated for: 

• Epilepsy—complementary therapy in patients aged 2 years and older.
• Epilepsy—monotherapy in patients aged 16 years and older.
• Bipolar disorder in patients aged 18 years and older.

Dosage and Administration

• Follow healthcare provider’s dosing instructions precisely, especially when increasing the dose gradually.

Precautions

• Blood dyscrasias: You should monitor for signs of anemia, unexpected infection, or bleeding. 
• Suicidal behavior and ideation: Monitor for suicidal thoughts or behaviors, especially at the beginning of treatment or during dosage changes. 
• Clinical worsening, emergence of new symptoms, and suicidal ideation/behaviors may be associated with treatment of bipolar disorder. Patients should be closely monitored. 
• Aseptic meningitis: Monitor for signs of meningitis. 
• Medication errors due to product name confusion: Patients should visually inspect tablets to ensure the correct drug is received. 

Storage Instructions

Store Lamictal at room temperature, around 25°C (77°F), in a dry place.
