Indications

  • Cyclogyl eye drops are prescribed for:
  • Dilating the pupil (mydriasis) for eye examinations
  • Temporarily paralyzing the muscles of the eye for diagnostic procedures
  • Treating certain inflammatory conditions of the eye such as uveitis

Dosage and Administration

  • Wash your hands before using Cyclogyl eye drops.
  • Shake the bottle well before each use.
  • Tilt your head back, pull down the lower eyelid, and instill the prescribed number of drops into the pouch formed by the lower eyelid.
  • Press gently on the inner corner of the eye for 1-2 minutes after applying the drops to prevent the medication from draining out.
  • Use Cyclogyl eye drops as directed by your doctor, usually before an eye examination or as needed for treatment.
  • Do not touch the tip of the dropper on any surface to prevent contamination.
  • Do not drive or operate machinery until the effects of the eye drops have worn off, as Cyclogyl can cause blurred vision and sensitivity to light.

Cyclopentolate hydrochloride works by blocking the action of acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter responsible for muscle contractions in the eye. This results in the relaxation of the eye muscles, leading to pupil dilation and temporary paralysis of the focusing muscles.
