Bevespi Aerosphere (glycopyrrolate and formoterol fumarate)

Indications

  • Bevespi Aerosphere aerosol is indicated for the long-term maintenance treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), including chronic bronchitis and emphysema.
  • It helps to improve lung function and reduce symptoms such as shortness of breath and wheezing in patients with COPD.

Dosage and Administration

  • Shake the Bevespi Aerosphere inhaler well before each use.
  • Breathe out fully before placing the mouthpiece of the inhaler in your mouth.
  • Press down firmly on the canister to release one puff of medication, then inhale deeply and slowly.
  • Hold your breath for 10 seconds or as long as comfortable before exhaling slowly.
  • Rinse your mouth with water after using the inhaler to minimize the risk of oral thrush.
  • Do not use Bevespi Aerosphere more often than prescribed, as this may increase the risk of side effects or worsen your condition.
  • Avoid spraying the inhaler into your eyes or face. If accidental exposure occurs, rinse with water and seek medical advice if irritation persists.
  • Do not use Bevespi Aerosphere to relieve sudden symptoms of COPD. Use a rescue inhaler for rapid relief of breathing difficulties.
  • Do not stop using Bevespi Aerosphere abruptly without consulting your doctor, as it may lead to worsening of COPD symptoms.

Mechanism of Action

Bevespi Aerosphere combines two active ingredients: Glycopyrrolate, an anticholinergic, and Formoterol Fumarate, a long-acting beta2-adrenergic agonist (LABA). Glycopyrrolate works by relaxing the muscles around the airways, while formoterol helps to open the airways by stimulating beta2-adrenergic receptors, resulting in improved airflow and reduced symptoms of COPD.

Contraindications

  • Do not use Bevespi Aerosphere if you are allergic to Glycopyrrolate, Formoterol, or any other components of the inhaler.
  • Avoid Bevespi Aerosphere in patients with a history of hypersensitivity reactions to anticholinergics or LABAs.
  • Consult your doctor before using the aerosol if you have a history of cardiovascular disease, hypertension, or thyroid disorders.

Side Effects

Common Side Effects:

  • Sore throat
  • Cough
  • Headache

  • Dry mouth

Serious Side Effects:

Precautions

  • Inform your doctor about any existing medical conditions or medications you are taking before using Bevespi Aerosphere.
  • Monitor for signs of paradoxical bronchospasm (wheezing or breathing difficulties immediately after inhalation) and discontinue use if it occurs.
  • Be cautious when driving or operating machinery until you know how Bevespi Aerosphere affects you, as it may cause dizziness or blurred vision.

Storage Instructions

  • Store Bevespi Aerosphere inhaler at room temperature (20°C to 25°C) away from heat and direct sunlight.
  • Do not puncture or incinerate the canister, even if it is empty.
