What is Uloric used for?

This medication is used to decrease uric acid produced by your body in people who have gout. Increased uric acid in the body can cause gout. This should only be used when treatment with Allopurinol fails to lower your uric acid levels, causes serious side effects, or is not recommended by a doctor.

This medication should only be used if you are having symptoms caused by high uric acid levels.

How to take Uloric

This drug is taken orally with or without food intake, as your doctor has instructed. This will usually be once every day. You can have more gout attacks for seven months after taking it as the medication is in the process of removing uric acid from the body. This drug is not a pain reliever. Take this medication as your doctor prescribed and not when you feel pain.

Uloric doses will consist of an initial dose of Uloric 40 mg taken by mouth once daily. If your serum uric acid is higher than 6mg/dL after 2 weeks, you should increase the dosage to Uloric 80 mg taken by mouth orally once every day. The maintenance dose will consist of 40 to 80 mg of Uloric once every day.
