What Is Dulera Inhaler

Dulera Inhaler’s active ingredient is a combination of mometasone/formoterol medicine that works together to treat asthma symptoms such as wheezing and shortness of breath; they make it easier to breathe and allow more oxygen in the lungs when breathing. Mometasone belongs to the class of corticosteroids, which works by reducing swelling and irritation in the lungs’ airways. At the same time, formoterol is a long-acting beta-agonist that works by relaxing the muscles around the lung’s airway to widen it and keep it open, allowing more air to flow for easier breathing.

Dulera Inhaler is prescribed for patients who are not adequately controlled by long-term asthma medication such as inhaled corticosteroids ICS or whose disease warrants initiation of therapy with an LABA and ICS.

Dulera Inhaler Dosage

The dose and length of therapy with Dulera Inhaler are different for each patient depending on the severity of the condition, age, and response to the treatment. Dulera Inhaler comes in a metered-dose inhaler in different strengths; the usual prescription of Dulera Inhaler is twice a day, one in the morning and one in the evening. Dulera Inhaler should be shaken well before each use; it requires priming if used for the first time or not used for more than five days. To help attain benefits, it is recommended to use it regularly at the same time of the day daily at evenly spaced times. Once a dose is missed, skip it and do not take more than prescribed to avoid overdosing.

The doses listed here are the usual prescription; follow your medication if it is different from here:

  • For adults and children ages 12 and above, two puffs in the morning and two puffs in the evening are prescribed with 100 mcg/5 mcg or 200 mcg/5 mcg. The healthcare professional can adjust the dose depending on your need, but it should not exceed 800 mcg/ 20 mcg per day.
  • For children ages 5 to 11 years old, two puffs in the morning and two puffs in the evening are prescribed with 50 mcg/5 mcg, which can be adjusted to a maximum of 200 mcg/5 mcg per day as needed.

Allow a one-minute interval before taking the second puff and if you are using other inhalers.
